ANASTAZIJA VLASTELIĆ

Assistant professor Anastazija Vlastelić, PhD (1976) holds an MA in Croatian language and literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka. She holds a PhD from the University of Zagreb (Postgraduate program Croatian Studies – Croatian Language). The title of her PhD theses was Opis atributa u hrvatskim gramatikama od početaka do kraja 19. stoljeća (Description of Attributes in the Croatian Grammar Books from the Beginnings to the end of the 19th century); mentor: prof. Diana Stolac.

She has been employed at the Department of the Croatian Language and Literature of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka since 1st October 2001.

Her research interests include: Croatian studies, research of syntax and language history, sociolinguistic and pragmalinguistic research of the methodology of linguistic research, and popularisation of the humanities.

She has presented papers at some forty conferences in Croatia and abroad, both as an author and as a co-author.

She has published a scientific book (Jezik reklama, 2014; co-authored by Diana Stolac) and a dictionary, around forty scientific papers, and a number of professional papers and reviews of linguistic works.

As a researcher, she worked on the following projects: The History of the Croatian Syntax (2001-2006), which was continued in the period between 2007 and 2013 as a part of the scientific program Philological and Music Heritage of Croatian Franciscans, both of which were financed by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education; and Croatian Marine Engineering Terminology project (2010-2011).  

She is a member of the research team working on the Croatian Written Heritage from the 17th to the 19th century project (UNIRI 2013 – present). Within this project she focuses on the diachronic research of various linguistic concepts and sociolinguistic analysis of journals and newspapers with particular emphasis on commercials.

She was also worked as a researcher on the Manipulačno-komunikačné koncepcie v persuazívnych slovenských a chorvátskych mediálnych diskurzoch project (Croatian Ministry of Science and Education and the Academy of Sciences of the Slovak Republic; No: 1/0179/15), where she focused on the analysis of manipulation strategies in public discourse and commercials.

She is the co-editor of two books of proceedings of the Croatian Applied Linguistics Society (2016 and 2017) and she was a member of organization and programme committees of a dozen domestic conferences. Since 2012 she has been a member of the Editorial Board of Fluminensia (categorised as a1 an journal; indexed in: ESCI (WoS), DOAJ, SCOPUS, URLICHSWEB).
